The University of Foggia is in the top 6.8% of 19,788 universities worldwide, according to the 2022-23 edition of the Global 2000 list by the Center for World University Rankings. The official birth of the University of Foggia took place on August 5, 1999. However, the history is much older (from the 17th century), being linked to the cultural history of southern Italy. Currently, the University combines tradition and innovation, becoming a reference of the territory, with 7 departments. Within the University, high-tech companies have been created in various sectors, accompanied by a growing number of requests for collaboration, conventions, and sponsorships. It is positively committed in favor of young people, through the promotion of research activity and offering professional opportunities due to its ability to anticipate the evolution of the labor market.

The Polytechnic University of Marche is a public university located in Ancona, Italy, offering courses in Agriculture, Engineering, Economics, Medicine, and Biology. With around 18,000 students, it is mainly focused on scientific research and teaching, with criteria based on the evaluation and appreciation of merit. In addition, it promotes the exchange of all agents of the academic community. It has 50 courses, 35 specialization schools, 9 PhD courses and professional masters, in a didactic environment.

The University of Palermo is a strong presence in central-west Sicily, with a scientific, cultural, and academic contribution. It offers 122 courses, 44 masters and specializations, and 23 PhD courses. It is closely linked to the job market, promoting periods of experience in public or private entities to students at the end of their bachelor’s and master’s degrees. With 20 departments and laboratories, different scientific research is carried out together with companies. The creation of a network of university laboratories (UniNetLab) by the University of Palermo proves its objective of transferring new technologies to SMEs, promoting the economic recovery of southern Italy. The SAAF Department’s research projects involve environmental, agri-food, agricultural and forestry sciences, with a multidisciplinary context and biotechnological and innovative approaches.

The University of Cagliari is funded in 1620 by Philip III of Spain. The University of Cagliari, located in the capital of the island of Sardinia seeks to promote the sharing and development of knowledge in different areas, based on the numerous research that takes place. It consists of 6 faculties and 17 departments, which make it possible to achieve the objectives of the teaching and research institution at the service of high demand. It has more than 24,000 students, 37 3-year degree courses, 34 master’s degrees, 30 specialization schools and 15 PhD courses.

The University of Naples Federico II is funded in 1224. This University was the first to be created on the initiative of a head of state and not a product of corporate initiatives. In addition, Emperor Frederick had a great passion for learning which led him to found the institution. Comprising 26 departments and 13 faculties, it is one of the oldest operating academic institutions and one of the best in Italy and in the world, being particularly notable in the area of academic research.
