W.E. B.E.S.T. Prin project on the 32nd International Conference of Agricultural Economists (ICAE 2024)
As part of the ongoing work of the project PRIN 2020 – W.E. B.E.S.T., a significant contribution was presented at the 32nd International Conference of Agricultural Economists (ICAE 2024), held in New Delhi, India, from August 2 to 7, 2024.
The presentation, titled “Tracking the Italian Wine via Digital Systems: A Preliminary Study on Blockchain Adoption”, was delivered by Dr. Deborah Bentivoglio during the parallel session “Digital Agriculture” on August 3, 2024.
Representing the project at this prestigious event were Prof. Adele Finco, Dr. Deborah Bentivoglio, Dr. Giulia Chiaraluce, and Dr. Giacomo Staffolani.
The presented work examines the adoption of blockchain technology in the Italian wine sector to enhance traceability and combat food fraud. By analyzing data from 108 wineries using a conceptual framework, the study identifies key factors—such as performance expectancy and trust—that influence wine producers’ intention to adopt blockchain and their willingness to pay, with blockchain knowledge and export activity playing a moderating role.
