International Scientific Conference “World Viticulture and Enology”
On July 1-2, 2022 the first international scientific conference “World Viticulture and Enology” has been held in Tbilisi, Georgia organized by Georgian Technical University and Iter Vitis Georgia.
Since one of the investigating topics of the W.E. B.E.S.T. project is wine, the University of Foggia and the University of Palermo besides other international universities, governmental structures and non-governmental associations have become official partners contributing the editorial board with seven members in total, being a chair of the session “Wine Business, Tourism and Marketing” and presenting the academic works of thirteen internal professors/researchers and international colleagues from Poland, Portugal and Georgia.
Presentations basically were about the advancement of wine industry through BCT implementation, transforming this field into smart agriculture form, as well as about the social and environmental impact of wine industry.
Prof. Francesco Conto’ – a full professor of Agriculture Economics (the University of Foggia, Department of Economics) and Prof. Enrico Napoli – a Vice Rector of the University of Palermo were given the welcome speech where they highlighted their contentment for strengthening the partnership with Georgian Technical University, making tighter links with international colleagues for future collaborations, and exchanging the knowledge in the field.
It worth noting that Italian wine companies Torrevento ltd and ELDA winery were presented on the conference as sponsors and they have done the presentation of their vineyards and factories. The companies shared their practical experiences in the production of highly competitive quality wines and in the adoption of emerging technologies in their businesses.
